Beans and rice are the pillars of a nutritious vegetarian, high protein meal & you don’t need to cook for hours. Backpacker’s Pantry Louisiana Red Beans & Rice is vegan but if you miss the meat, bring along some andouille sausage for an authentic Cajun meal. Louisiana Red Beans & Rice is plant-based, gluten-free and perfectly spicy. All you need is 1.25 cups of boiling water and 20 minutes hydration time. Take along on a hike for a quick, great tasting, hot lunch or serve alongside a freshly caught trout. Students will appreciate the convenience of a tasty hot meal of beans & rice as will any backcountry adventurer or traveler. Versatile and easy to store, and optimal for long-term food storage. 

ALLERGENS: No Allergens

PREP & STORAGE: 

Remove and discard enclosed oxygen absorber before beginning food preparation. Add 1.25 cups (300 mL) of boiling water. Stir well. Seal and let sit for 15-20 minutes. Stir and serve. Rehydration time doubles every 5,000 feet of elevation gain. Our directions are set for 5,000 feet. Best By Date on packaging is 10 years from manufacturing date.
